Synopsis | This symposium will explore the evolving role of supplementary parenteral nutrition (SPN) in oncology care, with a focus on Singapore’s clinical practices. Prof Stanislaw Klek will highlight recent innovations in lipid emulsions, amino acid solutions, and micronutrient supplementation that enhance immune function, reduce inflammation, and support recovery in cancer patients. The session will emphasise the clinical benefits of early SPN initiation and its synergy with enteral nutrition (EN). Additionally, it will address current barriers to SPN adoption and advocate for a more proactive, multidisciplinary approach to nutritional care in oncology. | |

Faculty | ![]() | Prof Stanislaw Klek, Poland Prof Stanislaw Klek, MD, PHD, is a specialist in general and cancer surgery. He works as the Head of the Surgical Oncology Clinic as well as Medical Director at the National Cancer Institute in Krakow. He is also the Head of the Intestinal Failure Center at Stanley Dudrick’s Memorial Hospital in Skawina, Poland Stanislaw Klek is the Chairman of the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN, term: 2024-2028). He was one of the first recipients of the European ESPEN Diploma (2010) and one of the first ESPEN LLL Teachers (2008). Associate Editor for Clinical Nutrition (since 2013). Chairman of the International Section of American Society for Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition (ASPEN, 2018-20) and President of the 41s ESPEN Congress in 2019. Stanislaw has published more than 230 original articles, 30 case reports. 18 book chapters. and over 150 congress abstracts. |
