Dr. Osman Abbasoğlu is a distinguished Professor of Surgery at Hacettepe University, Turkey, with extensive expertise in hepatopancreatobiliary surgery, transplantation, and clinical nutrition. He earned his MD from Hacettepe University (1984) and completed his general surgery training there before pursuing a clinical transplantation fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas (1995-1997).
He played a pivotal role in advancing clinical nutrition and surgical care, serving as Director of the Nutrition Support Team at Hacettepe University (1997-2010) and leading its Clinical Nutrition Master’s Degree Program. His contributions to the field include over 100 peer-reviewed publications, 12 book chapters, and an H-index of 23.
Dr. Abbasoğlu has held leadership positions in major professional organizations, including President of the Turkish Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition Society (KEPAN, 2019-2021) and President of the Turkish Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery Society (2013-2015). Currently, he serves as President of the Adriatic Club of Clinical Nutrition and Associate Editor of Clinical Nutrition.
